Already a fixture in other states—Los Angeles alone has thousands—gourmet food trucks are finally catching on in Michigan. Here are some trucks that will come to your special event, along with a taste of what they offer.
1. The Silver Spork :: Grand Rapids
Takes the “farm to truck” approach. Their BWT includes locally smoked bacon, Mud Lake Farm watercress, Visser Farm tomato with herb spread on toasted Stone House seven-grain bread.
2. El Guapo Fresh Mexican Grill :: Detroit
Detroit’s only sanctioned mobile food truck focuses on, as you might guess, tacos and burritos (Adobo-marinated steak, chorizo and more).
3. The Purple Carrot :: Lansing
Ranked among the top food trucks in the country. Features fresh, creative local cuisine, such as Tofu Banh Mi Crostini with Vietnamese spiced tofu, lentil-walnut paté, pickled carrots, daikon, jalapeno and fresh cilantro.
4. Concrete Cuisine :: Plymouth
Offers gourmet tweaks to classic staples, like an interpretation of bacon and eggs: tarragon infused egg salad, bacon jam, spicy arugula and fontina cheese on a French style roll.
