The Inn at St. John's in Plymouth has been awarded Green Lodging Michigan Leader certification by the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth (DELEG).
Green Lodging Michigan (GLM) is a joint program through Michigan's Bureau of Energy Systems and Department of Environmental Quality. This voluntary and non-regulatory certification program promotes environmental responsibility throughout the state by encouraging hospitality facilities to adopt cost-saving green practices.
The Bureau of Energy Systems and the DEQ provide technical assistance at no charge to those who are interested in implementing green strategies and earning certification. Certification is awarded in three levels: Partner, Steward and Leader, each of which is achieved by meeting a minimum number of requirements.
The Inn at St. John's is now one of only twelve properties in the state to achieve the highest level of certification, the Leader level. To earn the certification, The Inn at St. John's implemented numerous environmental initiatives across multiple focus areas including air quality, energy efficiency, recycling, hazardous chemical management, water conservation and recycled product purchasing.
