Meet MI M+E Editor, Alexa!

Printer-friendly version

Greetings, readers of Michigan Meetings + Events magazine.  I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the magazine’s new editor, taking over for Cathleen Hagan, who has departed the magazine for a new opportunity.

Cathleen spent seven years editing MME, and very skillfully so.  I wrote for the magazine for several years prior to taking the helm, so I had numerous opportunities to witness Cathleen’s excellence up close. She has been wonderfully helpful during the transition, helping to ensure the magazine continues to meet the high standards she worked so hard to maintain.

I come to the magazine as a freelance journalist; I’ve written for a broad range of Michigan publications, including Hour Detroit, Metro Detroit Bride, Detroit Home, Edible Wow and many others. I also write regularly for Destinations, a national publication focused on the group tour industry.

I do a lot of volunteer work, and in that capacity have organized some large fund-raising events.  I’ve often said that I could have happily worked as an event planner in another lifetime. So I’m doubly excited at the opportunity to get to know and serve this industry as MME’s editor.

In the coming months I’ll be attending industry events and reaching out to professionals across the state. Please don’t hesitate to do the same – I especially welcome your input into topics and stories the magazine should cover.

Hope to see you soon!
