Melissa Vitale Feldman, the mastermind behind Vitale Events, has never needed to advertise. For the past 17 years, loyal customers have passed her name along to others in the community, and through those events, she has built a reputation for being a top event planner.

Vitale’s success in the industry isn’t too surprising; she has been immersed in the business of entertainment for her entire life. Her father is a world-renowned musician who’s performed at every presidential inauguration since Bush senior. Growing up so close to influential people is probably one of the reasons why she is so comfortable around her lineup of celebrity contacts. Her events have included appearances by Key and Peele, Jason Derulo, Daya, the Detroit Pistons and Fetty Wap and the Remy Boyz.

She shocked guests at a bar mitzvah in Detroit when a surprise performance by Big Sean brought the house down.

“I love my job. All I’ve ever wanted to do was to be the person that creates these special moments that last a lifetime” says Vitale.

Nothing is too over the top for Vitale Events. A recent wedding required building a massive structure overlooking the Detroit River. Once the nuptials were complete, fireworks and a gospel choir were on hand to blow everyone away.

More good news for meetings and events continues to pour out of the Gerald R. Ford International (GFIA) Airport.

The airport reported an almost 6 percent increase in passengers—2,811,622 total in 2017—flying and in out of the Grand Rapids facility. That record established the best year in the airport’s 54-year history, and marked the fifth straight year of record-setting growth.

The airport saw growth in 11 of 12 months during 2017, and experienced 53 months of growth over a 60-month period.
