• DoubleTree Reading Now Welcoming Guests

The DoubleTree by Hilton Reading has officially opened its doors and is welcoming guests with their signature warm chocolate chip cookies in hand.

"Guests at this beautiful new hotel can expect the world-class service and the little things that have helped build DoubleTree by Hilton's global reputation, beginning with the warm chocolate chip cookie welcome we offer to each guest at check-in."

The 209-room, eight-story hotel features a modern interior designed by RD Jones & Associates, with urban rustic décor, wood accents and a soft color palette. Local artwork adorns the walls and guest rooms have 43" HDTVs, mini refrigerators and safes. 

Other complimentary offerings include Wi-Fi throughout the hotel's public areas and guest rooms, a 24-hour business center, a 24-hour fitness center and an indoor swimming pool. There is free garage parking and shuttle service within a 5-mile radius of the hotel.

As part of its grand opening, the hotel introduced the restaurant Cheers American Bistro, open for all-day dining with seasonal menus that feature farm-to-table entrees, such as g burgers, salads, steaks and seafood.

With 27,500 square feet of flexible meeting space, including a 12,000-squar-foot ballroom, the hotel can hold events of up to 1,300 people. For smaller groups, the hotel offers the Meetings Simplified by DoubleTree by Hilton package from $59.49 per person, which includes the meeting room, basic meeting Wi-Fi, supplies including a flipchart, markers, extension and power cord, and all day non-alcoholic beverage service. Catering services and a dedicated event staff also are available.

"Reading is a historic city known for beautiful outdoor parks, classic Dutch architecture and its convenient location halfway between Philadelphia and Pennsylvania's state capital, Harrisburg. Visitors will enjoy views of iconic buildings such as the Pagoda, built in 1908 atop Mount Penn and now open as a café and gift shop," says Craig Poole, general manager, for the new hotel. "We look forward to becoming the go-to destination for guests visiting Reading and providing them with a premier full-service hotel experience."

Due to COVID-19, non-essential travel was, or has been, banned for months. Long anticipated trips and in-person gatherings were canceled and people have adjusted to the new normal: staying at home and meeting over Zoom. However, states have been slowly lifting restrictions, and non-essential travel will soon be happening across the country again. However, some may not be as comfortable with the thought of traveling as they were before the pandemic.  

 

Although several cities are opening up again, many offices are still enforcing work from home policies. As they did when Stay at Home first began, plenty of organizations are still offering webinars with insights on how to tackle the new normal. Gaining new knowledge is a great way to use extra time that might have been spent on a commute.
