Looking to boost attendance at your next meeting? Consider holding it at a family-friendly venue.
Increasingly, business travelers want to blend work-related travel with vacation. According to the Professional Convention Management Association’s 2015 survey, “Decision to Attend,” more than 50 percent of respondents indicated a desire to extend their stay or turn their trip into a vacation. And nearly one-half will bring someone with them (friend, family, companion).
Traverse City, linchpin of Michigan’s largest waterfront resort area, is a mix of stunning scenery and classy creature comforts, with plenty to do year-round. Ample accommodations, fun activities, mouthwatering local food and locally produced libations—this area really has it all, making it an outstanding destination for meetings and special events.
Each year brings ever stiffer competition for our Best of Michigan Meetings + Events readers’ choice awards. New venues open, suppliers flourish and tastes expand. Maybe that’s why this year’s final vote tallies were record-setting, as nearly 3,000 of you participated. Or maybe it’s because we have an especially passionate readership. Whatever the reason, our winners have earned their kudos. Congratulations to them all!
There’s a reason some venues book years in advance: A great venue is worth the wait.
Give your guests some welcome “me” time by booking a your next event at a venue with a spa. “The spa very much plays into meetings,” says Dawn Olsen, spa director at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa in Acme. “People like to come and do conferences and learn more, but they also want a little time for themselves.”
