After a $7.5 million renovation the Haworth Hotel, formerly known as the Haworth Inn and Conference Center, which is located on the campus of Hope College in Holland, Michigan, has reopened.  What’s described by the college as a “transformational project” has remodeled all conference and hotel rooms, rebuilt the lobby and created a full-service coffee shop.

With 48 guestrooms and 14 conferences spaces, for a total of 10,000 square feet of meeting space, the Haworth Hotel is a blend of the commercial and the residential. The largest meeting space, the Haworth Hotel ballroom, accommodates 350 guests. Attendees wandering into the lobby between events will encounter a grand spiral staircase connecting the first two floors of the building.  The lobby has been designed to encourage interaction; a variety of spots to meet, read, chat and linger create an inviting environment for both work and relaxation. Complimentary high-speed wireless internet is available throughout the entire facility.

The renovation was led by Patricia Urquiola, an award-winning designer and architect based in Milan, Italy. This is her first hotel design in the United States. Haworthhotel.com

Michigan’s university and college towns earn more than a passing grade when it comes to the venues and amenities they offer for meetings and conferences.

Go Spartans! Go Wildcats! Go Broncos! Go Blue!

Michigan has plenty to cheer about when it comes to campus life. According to Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, the Great Lakes State ranks among the top 15 states in the country for the most post-high school institutions. Some 93 colleges and universities call Michigan home, with many of these schools operating multiple campuses.
