IMEX America, an expo for the travel, meetings and events industry, took place in Las Vegas on Oct. 10–12. There, Hilton announced and launched their new initiative, WowMakers, which will help recognize the hardworking professionals in the hospitality industry.
The program is intended to celebrate the 100,000-plus professionals in the industry by sharing their stories and helping them connect with others in the business—giving them the recognition they deserve.
WowMakers was introduced with the Museum of Wow, a showcase of stories of professionals that have created “wow” moments during their events. The initiative has also involved a revamping of meetings.hilton.com, the launching of a Twitter contest, #WowMakersContest and new offerings, including Hilton’s “Meet with Purpose” program.
Kaylie Pomper has joined West Michigan Tourist Association (WMTA) as the organization’s new marketing manager. The Kalamazoo native and graduate of Michigan State University, previously worked in leasing and marketing and in event planning.
Speaking at this year’s Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference on Tourism, which took place on April 19-21 at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, Governor Gretchen Whitmer had a clear message: the citizens of Michigan play a key role in supporting the state’s tourism industry.
