• HRI Properties Obtains Minneapolis Hotel

HRI Properties, LLC has acquired DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis. Located at 1101 LaSalle Ave., the hotel is six blocks from HRI’s owned and managed Embassy Suites by Hilton Minneapolis Downtown that will open this September HRI Lodging, LLC, a subsidiary of HRI, will manage the new property.

“DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis is an excellent fit for our portfolio,” says Gary Gutierrez, HRIL president and HRI COO. “We are poised for success in the downtown Minneapolis market holding a majority of the all-suite product in the area and continuing our relationship with the Hilton brand—this being the 11th Hilton-flagged hotel in our portfolio.”

The downtown Minneapolis hotel features 229 suites, all with separate bedroom and living areas. HRI plans to invest $3.5 million in renovations that will begin early 2017. DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis features a full-service Starbucks, Lot 57 Restaurant and Lounge, 24/7 fitness and business centers, an HHonors concierge level and 24-hour complimentary text message concierge service. The hotel specializes in small meetings and can accommodate 70 guests in its 1,162 square feet of meeting and event space. Among its unique meeting space suites, is the unique, small-size Merchandising Suite. The hotel has been recognized for its service and consistently averages four-star reviews and obtains a TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence.

SCS Global Services (SCS), a third-party environmental and sustainability certification, auditing, testing, and standards development, has launched its Zero Waste Standard, “Zero Waste for Events.”

 

The Events Industry Council’s Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program, established in 1985, is recognized around the world as a badge of excellence in the events industry. JodieAnn Cady, an independent event project manager based in Mason, is among the professionals in the inaugural class of CMP Fellows, a program launched last year.

 

Located in Onekama and built in 1900 as the summer residence of lumber baron and Manistee Mayor Charles Canfield, Canfield House was purchased, completely renovated, and reopened as a year-round bed-and-breakfast in 2021. Featuring 200 feet of Portage Lake frontage, the property now offers a lakeside fire ring and new dock for kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. The six-room house can be rented for small retreats and groups up to 125 accommodated for meetings and receptions.
