• LVS Supports Global Hygiene Program Project

Today, the Bethlehem-based Las Vegas Sands Resort worked in tandem with the Las Vegas Sand Corp and three other properties to help spread global hygiene awareness.

Specifically, the 4,000 team members and volunteers from the organizations built 20,000 hygiene kits in a 24 hour time frame on Saturday, Sept. 26, to distribute worldwide, including the homeless population in the U.S. The effort was the company’s largest to date. The project was part of Sands Cares—the LVS’ corporate citizen program and its partnership with Clean the World, a social enterprise dedicated to helping millions around the world.

“Through this ambitious global Sands Cares event, we are helping hundreds of thousands of people without access to hygiene supplies to help them stay healthy,” says Ron Reese, senior vice president of corporate communications at LVS. “Today showed the amazing impact people can have by uniting around a single mission.”

Each kit features soap and other hygiene items collected from Clean the World’s hospitality partners. Other amenities include shampoo, conditioner, a toothbrush and toothpaste, to form individual personal care kits.

LVS underwrote the event, with support from Sysco. LVS and Clean the World have a strong partnership focused helping those in need and protecting the planet. Since 2011, LVS and Clean the World have recycled more than 50 tons of waste from LVS properties into more than 550,000 bars of soap.

The Events Industry Council’s Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program, established in 1985, is recognized around the world as a badge of excellence in the events industry. JodieAnn Cady, an independent event project manager based in Mason, is among the professionals in the inaugural class of CMP Fellows, a program launched last year.

 

Located in Onekama and built in 1900 as the summer residence of lumber baron and Manistee Mayor Charles Canfield, Canfield House was purchased, completely renovated, and reopened as a year-round bed-and-breakfast in 2021. Featuring 200 feet of Portage Lake frontage, the property now offers a lakeside fire ring and new dock for kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. The six-room house can be rented for small retreats and groups up to 125 accommodated for meetings and receptions.
