• Portillo's Announces Maple Grove Location

Portillo's Chicago-style restaurant, which recently opened its first Minnesota location in Woodbury, has announced details on its newest location on Elm Creek Blvd., in Maple Grove. Portillo's currently has 50 locations in seven states.

The new location will have Prohibition-inspired décor drawn from the 1920s. The restaurant will seat 200 in its 9,000 square feet and will feature a seasonal outdoor patio and a two-lane drive thru. Guests will be able to enjoy Portillo's classic Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, char-grilled burgers, fresh salads and chocolate cake.

“We have felt so welcomed by our fans in Minnesota, and we’re excited to continue our expansion in the state,” says Portillo’s CEO Keith Kinsey. “Our decision to open in Maple Grove is a result of the area’s strong, growing retail and residential community. We look forward to becoming a part of the Maple Grove landscape.”

With the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, most people are working from home. Many are social distancing or quarantining with their children, who have transitioned to online classes. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Sunday recommended that all gatherings of more than 50 people be cancelled or postponed for the next eight weeks, in order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. The recommendation covers events like parades, concerts, festivals, conferences, sporting events, weddings and more.
