Signature Drink - 9 & Republic

Refreshing and rich with tradition, this cocktail from Valentine Distilling in Ferndale offers the scent of spring complimented by sweet ginger spice.

Ingredients:
— 1 oz. Valentine Liberator Gin
— .5 oz. St. Germaine liqueur
— 3 ginger slices
— 3 cucumber slices
— 1 lime wedge
— Half a habanero pepper

Signature Drink - The Local

The cocktails at Local Kitchen and Bar in Ferndale change seasonally, but its classic drink, The Local, is a favorite all year long.

INGREDIENTS:
—1.5 oz. Bulleit Rye whiskey
—1 oz. simple syrup
—1 oz. lemon juice
—A shot of malbec wine

INSTRUCTIONS:
Mix whiskey, simple syrup and lemon juice and finish with the shot of wine.

Signature Drink - Bloody Mary

The team at TAP at MGM Grand Detroit has developed its own take on this classic cocktail.

INGREDIENTS:

-.8 oz. Rochester Mills Milkshake Stout beer

-2.25 oz. tomato juice

-.25 oz. Worcestershire sauce

-.25 oz. TAP homemade pickle brine

-4.25 oz. Finest Call Loaded Bloody Mary mix

-.125 oz. Tabasco sauce

TO MAKE:

1. Mix ingredients in a 20-ounce glass with ice.

2. Add 2 ounces of your preferred vodka.

3. Rim glass with equal parts kosher salt, crushed black pepper, celery seed and celery salt.

Signature Drink - South African Margarita

COCKTAIL:

-3 oz. Corralejo Blanco tequila
-3 oz. fresh-squeezed pineapple juice
-1 oz. Licor 43
-Juice of half of a lime
-Nickel-sized drop of agave nectar

FOR GLASS RIM:

-1 Tbs. cinnamon
-1 Tbs. granulated sugar
-Orange slice, dipped in cinnamonsugar mix, for garnish

TO CREATE:
1. Mix sugar and cinnamon and dipglass rim in the mixture
2. Shake allcocktail ingredients horizontally ina cocktail shaker for two minutes.
3. Pour over ice into the cinnamonsugar-rimmed glass.
4. Garnishwith orange slice.

Want to try your hand at mixology? The Nordic Skipper comes compliments of Robyn Cleveland, bartender at The Ravens Club in Ann Arbor (and president of the Detroit chapter of the U.S. Bartenders Guild). Cleveland’s inspiration for this complex drink comes from Scandinavia; the cherry syrup reinterprets Glogg, a Swedish holiday punch that is similar to a mulled wine.
